Application Technique : BL Silver Coat RT
BL Silver Coat RT is applied in the following three steps.
1Undercoat / Primer Application
30 minutes of forced drying at 80~120 ℃.
In case of drying at room temperature, allow it to dry for 5~7 days or more following application.
2Intermediate / Silver Application
10 minutes of forced drying at 80~120 ℃.
In the case of drying at room temperature, allow it to dry for 48 hours or more following application.
3Overcoat / Clear Topcoat Application
30 minutes of forced drying at 80~120 ℃.
In case of drying at room temperature, allow it to dry for 5~7 days or more following application
After each step, it is important to make sure that all traces of the thinner have evaporated and is no longer in the surface. Regardless of using forced drying or drying at room temperature, all of the volatile components of thinner should be removed. If there is still component traces of the thinner, it may impact the development of the silver finish (the color may become affected/turn bluish).
Forced drying requires for the temperature to be constant at 80°~120 C. Rather than just the temperature setting of the drying furnace, the temperature of the entire piece being worked on. In addition, after finishing the piece from forced heating, please allow it to return to room temperature before proceeding to the next coating step.
Since BL Silver Coat works with completely with a very thin film, the base preparation for the application surface is very important. Priming of the application surface and preparing it to be totally smooth for a perfect mirror surface state is recommended.
Procedure Instructions
[ Mixing Ratio ] The main agent : curing agent = 6 : 1 ( mass ratio )
[ Dilution Ratio ] base resin : hardener : thinner = 6 : 1 : 40-60% ( mass ratio )
[ Paint Viscosity ] : 8-10 S / IHS
[ Time required for levelling ] : 5-10 minutes / heat treatment, be sure of the course after application at this time.
[ Recommended thickness ] : 10~20μm
[ Drying Times ]
30 minutes at forced drying = 80~120 ℃.
If drying at room temperature ( 25 ℃ as standard ) please let stand for at least 5~7 days after application.
However, outdoor drying time depends on the normal temperature and humidity of the environment and varies by region and/or weather conditions.
[ Dilution Ratio ] silver : thinner = 1 : 1.6 ( mass ratio )
[ Paint viscosity ] : 6~8 S / IHS
[ Time required for levelling ] : 5-10 minutes / heat treatment, be sure of the course after application at this time.
[ Recommended thickness ] : 0.2μm
[ Drying Times ]
10 minutes at forced drying = 80~120 ℃.
If drying at room temperature ( 25 ℃ as standard ) please let stand for at least 5~7 days after application.
However, outdoor drying time depends on the normal temperature and humidity of the environment and varies by region and/or weather conditions.

As the number of times of silver coating increases, it is possible to obtain richer metallic tone.

The Clear Topcoat is a urethane-based paint, so it’s possible to add toning pigment.
