Application Technique : BL Gold Coat
BL Gold Coat, being a thin film, is very sensitive to the state of its underlying surface, including any small scratches there might be, polishing and grinding marks, the evenness of the application surface, and the extent of its mirror finishing; therefore when it is applied, we recommend close attention be paid to the substrate. Additionally, make sure to completely remove any damaging adhesives such as oil, water, moisture, or dust and ash present on the substrate before application. Additionally, please consider that since BL Gold Coat is manufactured from 24K gold, even though it lacks the protection of our top coat, the discoloration it experiences as time passes is the same as traditional gold leaf.
1Polish the application surface to a mirror sheen, then completely degrease.
2Coat the surface with BL Gold Coat specialty primer using a spry gun or air brush.
The use of a paintbrush or roller is also possible.
The thickness should be around 30~50μ.
Dry at room temperature for a period depending on the season.
Summer : 10~15 min. | Spring and Autumn : 20~40 min. | Winter : 1~2 hours.
It is possible to shorten the drying time by forced drying at 130 ° C to 150 ° C for 5 to 10 minutes.
Please let the primer harden completely.
3Apply BL Gold Coat.
BL Gold Coat should not be diluted.
Apply the desired amount using a spry gun or air brush ; the use of a paintbrush or roller is also possible.
Dry at room temperature for a period depending on the season.
Summer : 30~60 min. | Spring and Autumn : 1~2 hours. | Winter : 3~4 hours.
It is possible to shorten the drying time by forced drying at 120 ° C to 150 ° C for 5 to 10 minutes.
Please conduct the firing using a device like a drying furnace, infrared heater, or heat gun.
By applying heat, it is possible to strengthen the coats adhesion, as well as to get a more vibrant color.
4Apply the Top Coat.
Apply using a spry gun or air brush.
When diluted the top coat becomes runny, so take caution.
Please note that it may damage the gold film forming surface by writing pressure during brush painting.
Summer : 30~60 min. | Spring and Autumn : 1~2 hours. | Winter : 3~4 hours.
It is possible to shorten the drying time by forced drying at 100 ° C to 150 ° C for 10 to 15 minutes.
Please conduct the firing using a device like a drying furnace, infrared heater, or heat gun.
After the top coat is completely dry, it is then possible to use ultrafine particles for polishing if desired.
Dry at room temperature for a period depending on the season :
Summer : 2~3 hours | Spring and Autumn : 3~4 hours | Winter : 6~7 Hours.
